Increase Muscle Size – How I Did It

I always used to be skinny and I hated it, I wasn’t very confident, lacked self-esteem and got fed up of all the ‘scrawny’ comments that people used to make. What made it even worse was the fact that a lot of my friends were the kind of guys who just find it stupidly easy to build muscle. All I wanted to do was have a better body but everybody just told me that I couldn’t change my body and I was just stuck with it forever.

I was convinced that if I started training hard and put a lot of time and effort into increasing my muscle size then I would be able to feel better about myself and show everybody else that it was possible for me to gain muscle. So when I started to workout I didn’t have a clue what I was doing really, I was over training and eating all of the wrong things (I really didn’t have a clue). After getting precisely no results doing it ‘my way’ I decided that I better ask for some advice, so I went to my friends and asked them what I was doing wrong and what they think I should be doing to gain muscle mass, they told me things like – ‘well you’ll have to go to the gym at least 4 times a week’ and ‘you should probably take these supplements, they’ll help’. So after I had been doing what they had told me for a few of months I was not very impressed with the results at all, I mean yea I had a bit more muscle on me but definitely not the kind of muscle growth that I had hoped for by that stage.

I started to look for some advice on the internet and at first all I could find was stuff geared towards the naturally muscular types (and that had got me nowhere so far). So I carried on searching for an answer because I was sure that there must be some way for me to get the increase in muscle size that I was after, and after a bit more searching I came across a website that looked ideal. It was a muscle building program made by a guy who used to be skinny just like me and to look at him now you just wouldn’t believe it! Click here to see the program i’m talking about

Obviously I jumped at the chance to start the muscle building program but I was a bit weary as you can’t always trust things on the internet these days, in my opinion it was worth the risk though as I was pretty desperate by that stage. I am very happy that I did go ahead with it because even after the first week I started building muscle fast, and every week after that it just kept on coming. It’s hard to believe that I was working so hard before for months to try and build muscle and now I was getting better results in a matter of weeks. So if you are at a lost end when it comes to building muscle then I can hole heartedly recommend the no-nonsense muscle building program.

5 Sure Fire Tips For Skinny Guys To Increase Muscle Size

Do you feel that you are too skinny? Do you have a lot less confidence than you would like as a result?

These 5 tips will get you well on your way to the body that you’ve always dreamed of, and give you an amazing new confidence along with it.

Eat More

The truth of the matter is that in order for us skinny guys to begin tobuild some decent muscle the first thing that we need to do is EAT MORE!

A lot of skinny guys drastically under estimate the amount of calories that they need to be consuming, so I would definitely suggest that you start writing down your daily calories so that you can make sure you are eating enough each day.

Eat Regularly

It’s no good just eating three big meals a day if you want to increase muscle size, you need to be eating every 2-3 hours throughout the day in order to keep your body full of the much needed nutrients that you need to be able to leave your skinny body behind and say hello to a new, more muscular you.

Don’t waste money on supplements

Many people believe that if they take a load of supplements along with working out in the gym then they will see massive increase in muscle size with minimum effort. But the truth of the matter is, your better off saving your money.

An important thing to mention is the fact that most of the body building magazines that have pages and pages of supplement ads are actually owned by the supplement company’s. So of course they are going to tell you that the supplements are amazing and you must have them. When the fact of the matter is, most of them don’t work! (believe me, I’ve tried them)

Get Plenty Of Rest

This is the most simple tip of all, but a lot of people over look it. As your muscles grow while at rest not while your in the gym working out it, is extremely important to get enough rest.

You can be working out like a crazy guy in the gym, but if you don’t rest your muscles then there is no way that they will grow.

Keep At It

At first it can be very easy to give up if you don’t see immediate results, but as long as you consistently train and eat right then you will have the muscular body that you’ve always wanted.

If you follow these simple tips then you will wave goodbye to your skinny body forever and increase muscle size, just like I did.

Although that being said, there is one more thing that could mean the difference between getting the body that you want fast or struggling to gain muscle for months (like me when I first started). And that is finding a good workout program that has everything from A to Z, and for that I would definitely suggest the no-nonsense muscle building program as that is what I use and I got (and keep getting) good muscle gains.

Muscle Building Diet

When I first started trying to increase muscle size I only wish I had known everything that I know now!

I was pretty much doing everything wrong, a lot of my friends would tell me workouts to do (the wrong workouts) but nobody had ever really told me anything about how important a good muscle building diet is in the quest to increase muscle size, especially so for skinny hardgainers. So I was just eating what I would normally be eating while trying to gain muscle and obviously it wasn’t going very well, I was getting very frustrated and couldn’t work out why I wasn’t gaining muscle like everybody else was.

Then I realized my mistake and started eating some real muscle foods and I just felt much better in general as well as getting some much better results in the muscle department. Some of the foods that I just couldn’t do without these days are:

  1. Mixed nuts – If your a skinny guy trying to put on muscle then nuts are a must as they contain mono and poly -unsaturated fats (the good fats) along with plenty of protein, vitamins and minerals. Just try to make sure you go for the unsalted variety’s.
  2. Quinoa – I love this stuff, I usually have it instead of rice because it has more protein and fibre.
  3. Whole eggs – A lot of people just have egg whites or you can even get egg substitutes now but if most of the nutrients are in the yolk so please don’t just throw it away.
  4. Salmon – Is one of the best sources of omega 3 and I try to have some kind of oily fish twice a week.
  5. Broccoli – Is one of the super veggies, it is full of calcium, vitamin c etc. and it can even lower your oestrogen levels and therefore increase testosterone which equals bigger muscles.
  6. Turkey – This meat is very low in fat so is a fantastic choice when trying to build muscle.
  7. Red Meat – You’ve got to love some nice lean steaks and they are a super protein source. I really can’t understand these vegetarians.
  8. Cottage cheese – I find it very handy to always have a few pots of cottage cheese and pineapple in the fridge to have for a quick snack.

Muscle Building Supplements

I’m not a fan of muscle building supplements at all, I think that 99% of them will not live up to their expectations and are just a waste of time and money. But I think that the reason they are so popular is because people are always looking for a quick fix or something that will make life easier for them. A lot of supplements out there haven’t even been tested for long periods of time so could potentially be quite dangerous. There is quite a lot of controversy around a lot of the muscle gain supplements these days, creatine for example is something that a lot of body builders and athletes swear by and say that it is totally safe but in my opinion the risk of kidney damage is not worth it at all and I would much prefer to increase my muscle size naturally.

The only kind of muscle supplements that are worth using at all in my opinion are protein shakes and to an extent meal replacement shakes as they can be handy to get your protein/calories intake up for the day, you can take them to the gym for after a workout or if your just out and about and cant cook yourself a muscle building meal then it its a really quick and easy option so that you don’t miss a meal.

Increase Calf Muscle Size

I’m sure you know that the calf muscles are probably the hardest muscles to be able to gain size, the reason for this is because while we are walking around all day the calves are working their butts off so when it comes to gaining muscle on your calves it is not an easy task at all. Unless of course you are one of these people who are naturally gifted in the muscle building area (which I am not).

The first thing to remember when trying to gain big calf muscles is that instead of just doing the odd calf raise at the end of your workout you will have to start paying them a bit more attention and do some intense training on them. The sort of things that you need to be doing are calf raises (one foot or two footed) seated calf raises (add weights if you find it too easy) or even some donkey calf raises. If you do 2-3 sets of 12-15 then you should be well on your way to those bigger calves in no time, but just make sure you remember to keep the weights up and keep it intense.
