The ledend that was - Reg Park

Reg Park Known as HERCULES

Reg Park was the first ever bodybuilder I’d seen. He was also the first bodybuilder action hero who played the part of ‘Hercules’…he was massive!

A Brief History of Reg Park!

In his teenage years, Reg Park had no specific interest in bodybuilding, but dedicated to excelled in football.  At the age of 16 Reg Park met a muscleman known as David Cohen, who was lifting weights at a friend’s house, so Reg Park joined in out of pure curiosity.

During his National Service, Reg become a Physical Training Instructor in Singapore and was discharged from the military in 1948. It was at this time that Reg watched his first bodybuilding contest the ‘NABBA Mr. Universe’, which turned out to be the contest that inspired Reg to compete himself.

After only a year of training, Reg earned the title of Mr. Britain in 1949. The following year, Reg was the runner-up to Steve Reeves in the 1950 NABBA Amateur Mr. Universe in London, which was a very close fight contest. Going on to win the 1951 National Amateur Bodybuilders Association (NABBA) Amateur Mr. Universe. He also paved his superstar status by winning the 1958 and 1965 NABBA Pro Mr. Universe titles.

Reg made several films as an actor the all Italian ‘Hercules’ sword and sandal… appearing in several films from 1963 to 1965.

Reg Park stands alone, as there aren’t too many bodybuilders who have had the privilege of appearing on the same stage as legendary bodybuilders as… Steve Reeves, Dave Draper and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
